Sportsmetrics

Sportsmetrics LogoDuring these difficult times, athletes are not receiving the typical training and attention to detail that they normally would. Sportsmetrics - WOSMAthletes need to keep training and even take advantage of this time to focus on both their sport performance and injury prevention. Once athletes start returning to their typical routines and competitive play, they can be more vulnerable to injury if they do not keep up with their injury prevention routines. This is why Brian Hodge PT, MS at SMARTherapy is now offering a program called Sportsmetrics as a certified Sportsmetrics instructor.

What is Sportsmetrics?

Sportsmetrics is a scientifically proven, evidence-based ACL injury prevention program developed by Dr. Frank Noyes. While the program was designed to significantly reduce the risk of serious knee injuries in female athletes, it is applicable for all athletes. Our therapists will help build up athletes’ strength, work capacity and endurance necessary for their sport.

What distinguishes Sportsmetrics from your typical plyometric workouts?

If you take part in our Sportsmetrics program, you will be doing jumping drills that are used to train the athlete to preposition the entire body when landing to avoid injury. The range and advancement of these exercises are designed to optimize proprioception. Your program may begin with simple jumping drills and progress to multi-directional, single-foot hops and plyometrics with an emphasis on explosiveness. Your program will go beyond plyometric training during your one-on-one sessions with our certified Sportsmetrics instructor.

Sportsmetrics - WOSMSportsmetrics programs focus on five key components:

  1. Dynamic warm-up
  2. Plyometrics
  3. Speed, agility and conditioning
  4. Strength training
  5. Flexibility

Can Sportsmetrics be done via Telehealth?

Athletes will be able to get all of the benefits of our Sportsmetrics program through telehealth! No equipment is required; all that is needed is some open floor space. Assessments are done through a live visual and audio platform and movement tendencies will be evaluated with accuracy and precision.
