General Orthopaedics

Whether it is a break, tear, fracture or an ache or pain that has been bothering you for a few weeks, at Washington Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, you will get the advanced care and personal treatment you need and expect.

All of our physicians are board certified, which means they have completed the highest form of training an orthopaedic or sports medicine physician can.  Further, because our sports medicine physicians specialize in treating sports injuries, they are sensitive to the unique needs and concerns of patients who routinely participate in sports and/or other athletic activities.

 Personal Attention

WOSMlewis

One of the standout features of our practice, and the reason we are so highly recommended in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area r is the personal attention all of our patients receive.  When we walk into the exam room, and shut the door behind us, you have our full attention for as long as it takes to explain your condition and recommend possible treatment options.  Our patients tell us this is why they return and recommend us to friends and relatives—because our doctors provide the kind of care they simply cannot find anywhere else.

Orthopaedic Evaluations

At WOSM, our physicians will provide a comprehensive evaluation to determine the cause of your pain or condition.  You can expect a thorough evaluation, where your doctor will ask you to describe the history and extent of this injury of condition.  If you have X-rays or other diagnostic images, you should bring them with you.  If you do not, your doctor will recommend them. Your first evaluation will probably include:

  • Clinical exam
  • X-rays
  • Other imaging tests, like MRI, if necessary

Orthopaedic Treatment

After the evaluation, your doctor may recommend immediate treatment.  In our practice, we focus on creating an individualized treatment plan for each patient. Our first line of treatment is usually rest, splinting, physical therapy and medical management to control pain. However, some orthopaedic conditions and injuries clearly need surgical treatment.

Orthopaedic Surgery

If surgery is necessary, you should know you are in excellent hands, as all of our doctors are experts in performing surgery.  The physicians in our practice have a combined experience of more than 125 years in performing orthopaedic surgery. Our helpful staff will explain everything you need to know to prepare for surgery.  After surgery, your doctor will check on you and then expect to see you in the office a week later to make sure you are healing well.

Please call us for an appointment at 202-787-5601.
